We often hear about how technology has revolutionized the workplace. But there’s another revolution going on, and that’s with workers themselves. The new generation has different aspirations and work/life values. There’s an increased emphasis on healthy workplaces and employee engagement. The demand for talent is evolving as more baby boomers retire. And diversity in the workplace means accommodating different cultures, abilities, and more. All this means that human resource professionals are more important than ever.
Whether you are already working in the HR profession and want to enhance your skills, or are looking to move into an HR role, this program will help you become an effective team member in small, medium, and larger sized businesses.
This program utilizes a project-based learning approach which culminates with a capstone policy manual development experience. The independent projects facilitated by faculty are blended with full-day, face to face classes scheduled to take place approximately every second Saturday throughout the academic year. Students are required to attend these classes.
Please Note: Individuals can apply to this program prior to September but must complete a Human Resource Management course and an Organizational Behaviour course prior to the start of the HRM specific courses in September. These courses can be found on the Continuing Education and Part Time Studies section of the Holland College website. These courses run on an annual basis and must meet a minimum enrollment number. Additionally, credit transfer remains an option for these courses.

Graduates of this program will be qualified to seek employment in a variety of business settings that require support and leadership in managing talent in an organization. From larger human resources departments or firms to smaller entrepreneurial ventures, graduates of this program will possess the skills to be effective team members.
The National Occupational Classification (NOC) is the nationally accepted reference on occupations in Canada. It organizes over 40,000 job titles into 500 occupational group descriptions. It is used daily by thousands of people to compile, analyze and communicate information about occupations, and to understand the jobs found throughout Canada’s labour market. This program provides skills training that falls within the duties described in the following: NOC 1223.
- Grade 12 or equivalent with credits at or above the general level
- Confirmation of successful completion of a Human Resource Management course and an Organizational Behaviour course from an accredited community college or university prior to September.
- Resumé including work and volunteer experience with applicable dates, membership in groups, associations or athletics, awards and distinctions, and any other information about yourself relevant to the program
